Our Chairman and the League Management Committee want to provide opportunities for clubs to learn from each other and share ideas to tackle the problems facing grassroots football.

Coaches & Managers – shortages remain a key barrier.
⚽️ Run joint “Club Volunteer Open Days” across several clubs - target your players reaching the end of playing careers, neighbouring Junior Clubs managers & coaches.
⚽️ Offer part-funded FA coaching courses for new volunteers. Build in an agreement that the qualified coach should guarantee 12/24 months with your club post qualifying.
⚽️ Promoting shared coaching resources between nearby teams. Joint training sessions Juniors/Women & Girls etc
⚽️ Regular match reports on a variety of media channels to raise & maintain interest locally.
⚽️ Circulate to local Walking Football competitions, hopefully to recruit interested individuals.
Player Commitment & Availability – availability is a growing problem, losing players is very hard to stop and losing teams difficult to reverse. Players who aren’t regularly available create uncertainty in getting teams out.
⚽️ Decide whether 5 Subs or establishing another team produces most interest.
⚽️ Using tools like Match Day App, Pitchero/TeamApp to manage availability in advance.
⚽️ Set up different monthly charge rates - £30 p.m, for players, on Standing Orders. Players with irregular availability pay higher charges -£8/9 per game. Offer discount for upfront payments. Invest in a card reader for payments.
⚽️ Set up Social media channels which encourage player contributions, match and performance reports, scores etc promote social activities. Darts competitions, Beer Pong, Race nights, Quizzes
Changing Players football Preferences –
⚽️ If the small-sided game is more popular, build training around 3/4/5 a side competitions - could be a pathway rather than a threat.
⚽️ Setting up midweek 7v7 or 9v9 “club nights”
⚽️ Partnering with local facilities to run short, social leagues that feed into 11-a-side squads
⚽️ It might be worth affiliating with a Junior team/club to share training, whilst also providing a clear pathway for player progression and indeed managers & coaches to feed into your teams.
