The league strongly encourages clubs to purchase the best insurance they can for their players, managers, coachers and committee members. Whilst this alone may be sufficient for some, in turn clubs must strongly encourage their players and members to ensure they have adequate individual insurance based on their own needs.
The league runs a Benevolent Fund into which clubs no longer pay. Since the introduction of the necessary insurance as part of affiliation to the County FAs the Benevolent Fund is used to support clubs as a whole or in times of urgency for player welfare as well as, from time to time, initiatives to support all clubs.
In the first instance the player should seek to claim against the insurance policies that the club and/or player holds. The league would want to see how the individual has been supported by said insurances and their own club before considering utilising the League Benevolent Fund. Consideration will be given to requests for a limited amount of financial support only after this.
The County FAs also have Benevolent Funds of their own, support from which can be sought by clubs/players from their respective County FA.
Finally, the FA have a Benevolent Fund which you can find more information about by clicking on this link The FA Benevolent Fund - About Us | The Football Association
All of the above shows that support is available for those involved in football when in financial hardship. Clubs can be advised on all of the above by contacting the League Secretary.
