PAUL McKEOWN TROPHY (Mushy Cup)
FAILSWORTH DYNAMOS V RADCLIFFE TOWN
SATURDAY 12TH AUGUST
ROCHDALE ST CLEMENTS, BURTON PARK
The season kicked off with the annual game between Premier champions and Cup winners. Despite early Failsworth pressure it was Radcliffe who took a deserved lead. Failsworth equalised, but struggled against a well-organised Radcliffe team who got a second just before the break. However, there was just enough time for another Failsworth attack which resulted in a penalty and they turned round all square. The intensity of the first half produced a quieter second half and despite creating a few chances, Failsworth were unable to convert and the Cup was settled with a penalty shoot-out which Failsworth won 4-3.
